
ʻAtā is a small island in the Tongatapu group of Tonga. It has been used since 2001 as an open prison for Tongan criminals, especially young people. In 2002, there were seven prisoners on the island, who grew yams, coconuts, manioc, and bananas to pay for their expenses.

Falevai is a settlement in the Vava'u islands in Tonga. The name Falevai, if translated into English means "water house." The name was given because of how the seas and the oceans surrounding the houses. Falevai's most famous names are lafa 'i tua and kuli fe kai. The settlement is also part of a 2.29km² Special Management Conservation Area. In 2014, there was a return of the traditional art of tapa-making in the village after decades of it being lost.

The Mapu a Vaea or "Whistle of the Noble" are natural blowholes on the island of Tongatapu in the village of Houma in the Kingdom of Tonga. When waves crash into the reef, natural channels in the volcanic rock allow water to forcefully blow through and create a plume-like effect. It is one of the highlights of the tours around the island of Tongatapu. "Vaea" is the name of the Honorable Vaea Family of nearby Houma.

The island also contains the Big Mama Yacht Club, the Pangaimotu Island Resort and a vanilla plantation.
