
Nagorno-Karabakh is a landlocked region in the South Caucasus, within the mountainous range of Karabakh, lying between Lower Karabakh and Zangezur, and covering the southeastern range of the Lesser Caucasus mountains. The region is mostly mountainous and forested.

Arajamugh or Arrashamud is a model village in the Jabrayil District of Azerbaijan. It was founded in 2004 by the Tufenkian Foundation, working in conjunction with the NKR Department of Resettlement and Refugee Affairs. As of 2014, the village features 19 houses with 85 inhabitants, including Karabakhis as well as refugees from Azerbaijan. Arajamugh also features a school and possesses modern amenities - water, power lines, and gravel roads and was 5.7 km from Jabrayil. It was part of the Hadrut Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh since the First Nagorno-Karabakh war until its recapture by Azerbaijan during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.

Arduşlu is a village in the Lachin District of Azerbaijan.

Artsakh State University is the oldest, largest and by far the most respected university de facto in the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh and de jure in Azerbaijan. Over the course of its nearly 50-year history, Artsakh State University has produced over 20,000 graduates in 60 fields of study. Currently, the university prepares specialists in 31 areas. Instructional languages are Armenian and Russian. The university has established close ties with other educational institutions and universities in Armenia and other countries.

Çıraqlı is a village in Lachin District district Azerbaijan. The village came under occupation of Armenian forces on 17 May 1992 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh war. It was returned to Azerbaijan in 2020 as part of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire agreement.

On June 2, 1992, the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, a de facto independent republic internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, in the South Caucasus region, adopted a flag derived from the flag of Armenia, to which a white, five-toothed, stepped pattern is added, beginning at the two verges of the flag's fly and meeting at a point equal to one-third of the distance from that side. The white pattern represents the mountains of Armenian Artsakh, and also forms an arrow pointing westward to symbolize the aspiration for eventual union with Armenia. This symbolizes the Armenian heritage, culture and population of the area, and the triangular shape and zigzag cut represent Artsakh as a separated region of Armenia. The white pattern on the flag is also similar to the designs used on rugs, a symbol of national identity. The ratio of the flag's breadth to its length is 1:2, same as the Armenian Tricolor.

The Karabakh, also known as the Karabai or Karabakhskaya in Russian, is a mountain-steppe racing and riding horse. It is named after the geographic region where the horse was originally developed: Karabakh in the southern Caucasus, an area which is a [[list of territorial disputes|disputed territory, but mostly governed by the Republic of Artsakh, a de facto independent state with an Armenian ethnic majority established on the basis of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic. The breed is noted for its good temperament and speed; in 2004, a Karabakh horse named Kishmish from the Agdam stud in Azerbaijan covered 1000 metres in 1.09 minutes and 1600 metres in 1.52 minutes.

Kurdistansky Uyezd, also known colloquially as Red Kurdistan was a Soviet administrative unit that existed for six years from 1923 to 1929 and included the districts of Kelbajar, Lachin, Qubatli and part of Jabrayil. It was part of Azerbaijan SSR. Its administrative center was in Lachin. It was briefly succeeded by the Kurdistan Okrug from 30 May to 23 July 1930.

The Lachin corridor is a mountain pass connecting Armenia and the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh. The corridor is de jure in the Lachin District of Azerbaijan, but de facto in the Kashatagh Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh. It contains the town of Lachin and the villages of Zabux and Sus.

Minkend is a village in the Lachin District of Azerbaijan. The village is located on the west bank of the Hakari River and in the northern part of Lachin district, 320 km from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Naftalan is a city in Azerbaijan, surrounded by the rayon of Goranboy. It is located on an agricultural plain near the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The word naftalan also means a petroleum product which can be obtained there.

The Assembly of Kosovo, then a province of Serbia under transitional UN administration (UNMIK), approved a declaration of independence on 17 February 2008. Kosovo was soon recognized as a sovereign state by the United States, Turkey, Albania, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the Republic of China (Taiwan), and others. Qarabağ Futbol Klubu, commonly known as Qarabağ is an Azerbaijani football club playing in the Azerbaijan Premier League. The club originates from Agdam, a now-ruined ghost town, but has not played in its hometown since 1993 due to the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. The club is now based in the capital city of Baku.

Sheylanli is a village in the Lachin district of Azerbaijan. Historically, the village had a Kurdish population. Sheylanli is surrounded by several historical, cultural and architectural monuments, including an arch bridge on the Hakari River.
Stepanakert Airport is an airport near Stepanakert, the capital city of the de facto independent Republic of Artsakh. The airport, in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, has been under the control of the Republic since 1992. Flights ceased with the escalation of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in 1990. As the airport lies within the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan, and the current government is unrecognized, there are no codes for the airport in the official IATA list.

Officially Xankenti Republican Stadium named after Stepan Shahumyan, is an all-seater multi-use stadium in Xankenti, Azerbaijan. It is mostly used for football matches and is the home stadium of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh national football team and Lernayin Artsakh FC of Xankenti. The stadium was built between 1955 and 1956. It was officially opened in 1956 as Joseph Stalin Stadium. Later, the name was changed to Stepan Shahumyan Central Stadium.

Tartar is a district of Azerbaijan. It consists of the former Tartar Rayon and a part of former Mardakert District the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. Since the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, most of it has been under the control of the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh, governed as part of its Martakert Province.

Tsakuri or Hunarli is a village in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan. It is located in south-west Azerbaijan, 13 km from the town of Hadrut and a 57 km drive over the north-south highway from the regional capital Stepanakert. Hikers reach Tsakuri in the Tuğ section of the marked Janapar road.
