The Águeda is a river tributary of the Douro River, that springs from the Serra das Mesas in Spain, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It flows 130 kilometres (81 mi) until it reaches the Douro River near Barca de Alva, Portugal. The Portugal–Spain border follows the Águeda for much of its course.

The river runs westwards for 9.8 kilometres (6.1 mi) from its start in the village of Aljezur from the confluence of the River Alfambres and River Cerca to its mouth on the Atlantic western Algarve coast at Praia da Amoreira.

João da Madeira, and it ends west of Estarreja, on the waters of the Ria de Aveiro. The main towns near its banks are S. João da Madeira, Oliveira de Azeméis and Estarreja. Its main tributary is the Ínsua. It has a total length of about 38 kilometres (24 mi).

The Arade is a river located in the region of the Algarve, southern Portugal. the river's course takes it through the municipalities of Silves, Lagoa and Portimão. The source of the river lies to the southwest of the Serra do Caldeirão mountain ridge, in a valley called Barranco do Pé do Coelho. The river has a total length of 75.0 kilometres (46.6 mi), with its source being 481 metres (1,578 ft) above sea level. The mouth of the river empties into the Atlantic Ocean between the city of Portimão and the freguesia of Ferragudo, in Lagoa Municipality.

Along its 50 kilometres (31 mi) of length, it crosses the Macedo de Cavaleiros Municipality, where in 1982 an earthfill dam was built near Santa Combinha place . The Azibo river has its mouth near the place of Lagoa, on the right bank of Sabor River, which is a tributary of Douro River.

Portugal does not recognise the border between the Caia and Ribeira de Cuncos River deltas, since the beginning of the 1801 occupation of Olivenza by Spain. This territory, though under de facto Spanish occupation, remains a de jure part of Portugal, consequently no border is henceforth recognised in this area.

It flows near the towns of Celorico da Beira, Fornos de Algodres, Nelas, Tabua, Carregal do Sal, Mortagua, Montemor-o-Velho and cities of Seia, Gouveia, Guarda, Oliveira do Hospital, Mangualde, Santa Comba Dao, before crossing the town of Penacova, is narrow, then widens by the city of Coimbra, and the Montemor-o-Velho municipality, before reaching the Atlantic at the city of Figueira da Foz.

Odeleite is a river located in the municipality of Castro Marim, Algarve, in Portugal. It originates in the mountains of the Serra do Caldeirao and flows through the municipalities Sao Bras de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim, Castro Marim in the district of Faro. Also, there is a water reservoir of the same name because of the dam created on the path of the river. Odeleite is a right tributary of the River Guadiana.

River Quarteira is a small river in the Portuguese region of the Algarve. The river begins at the conflux of two tributary rivers a little north of the village of Paderne. The tributary rivers are the River de Alte and the River de Algibre.

The Gilão is a river in southern Portugal. It is approachable from the Atlantic Ocean, where it enters at the town of Tavira in the Algarve, 35 kilometres (22 mi) east of Faro. The river Gilão changes its name to Rio Séqua at the ancient bridge named Ponte Romana in the centre of Tavira. The river's source is located in the Serra do Caldeirão mountains of the central Algarve, at the confluence of the Asseca, Zimbral and Alportel rivers, the latter rising north of São Brás de Alportel. From here it flows in a southeasterly direction and passes through the Ria Formosa national park south of Tavira, eventually meeting the Atlantic Ocean between the barrier islands of Tavira and Cabanas.

The Zêzere is a river in Portugal, tributary to the Tagus. It rises in the Serra da Estrela, near the Torre, the highest point of continental Portugal. The Zêzere runs through the town Manteigas, runs through Belmonte, passes south of the city Covilhã and east of the town of Pedrogão Grande. It flows into the Tagus in Constância. It is the second longest river entirely within Portuguese territory. Its slope allows for the hydroelectric powerplants of Cabril, Bouçã and Castelo de Bode.
