Two 35-minute episodes were released on VHS on February 25 and October 25, 1998 respectively. However, subsequent releases, including all three DVD releases in the United States, have edited the OVA into a film.

It originally debuted on December 28, 2008 in the Comic Market 75 dōjin convention. The official DVD version first released on December 31, 2009 in a limited first edition and special limited edition. The OVA was adapted into a 34-minute film by Actas, released on September 9, 2010, which uses the original cast. WOira Sukeban , sometimes called Sukeban Boy, is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Go Nagai, serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1974 to 1976. It is a comedy with several erotic touches, where the protagonist Banji Suke has to disguise himself as a girl in order to be able to attend an all-female school to try and clear his name after being left the blame for the chaos all over town, while unaware that his assassins are watching his every move. As Suke Ban is a rebellious boy, this situation creates several comedic troubles.
WShe and Her Cat , subtitled Their standing points, is a 1999 Japanese original video animation created and directed by Makoto Shinkai. Shinkai's first animation work, it is a five-minute story about the relationship between a male cat and his female owner told from the cat's perspective. Shinkai made the film to help a romantic interest overcome a difficult situation, and his time living in a small apartment defined the scenario. The film used his own hand-drawn illustrations and its 3D scenes were mainly done through Adobe After Effects. He also voiced the cat, and he had only the cooperation of three other people in the work.

It follows the lives of two close childhood friends, a boy and a girl, who get separated once the girl is sent into space to fight in a war against aliens. As the 15-year-old girl goes deeper and deeper into space, the texts she sends take longer to reach the Earth; the film simultaneously follows her battles and the boy's life as he receives her texts over the years.
