11 Hazing

Hazing, initiation, bastardisation, ragging, or deposition, refers to any activity expected of someone in joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them regardless of a person's willingness to participate.

The United States Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is the forthcoming fitness test for the United States Army. It was designed to better reflect the stresses of a combat environment, to address the poor physical fitness of recruits, and to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for service members. It consists of six events and is graded on a scale with a maximum score of 600. The test is scheduled to take full effect as the US Army's fitness test of record as of October 2020.

Call Me Dave: The Unauthorised Biography of David Cameron is a 2015 book by Michael Ashcroft, a businessman and Conservative peer, and Isabel Oakeshott, a political journalist, about the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron. The book, excerpts from which were published in the Daily Mail prior to publication, received significant media attention, particularly relating to allegations made about Cameron. It is published by Biteback, a company in which Ashcroft has a majority share, run by political blogger Iain Dale.

Cane Spree is an annual autumn tradition at The College of New Jersey which began during the Gilded Age—the period just after the Civil War, or the mid-to-late 1860s. Cane Spree began as a riot between classes, turned into an annual event with each class designating a candidate for the wrestling, and ultimately shedded its violence altogether to become a regular intramural multi-sport event held on the campus. The tradition endures today.

Darwin Dioso Dormitorio died as the result of maltreatment at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Baguio, Benguet, Philippines. He was laid to rest on September 25, 2019 in his hometown of Cagayan de Oro and was given full military honors. In 2019, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), along with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), announced plans to investigate his death, and a House of Representatives resolution was filed seeking a congressional inquiry into the incident. In 2020, two PMA cadets were indicted for murder and three PMA doctors were also charged with participation in the crime.

This is a list of hazing deaths in the United States. This is not an exhaustive list. An exact list is not available because there is no central system for tracking hazing deaths, and the role of hazing in some deaths is subject to disagreement. Inclusion in this list requires that the incident was described by the media as a hazing-related death. Incidents involving criminal or civil proceedings that did not find a definite link with hazing may still be included if they meet this criterion.

Hazing in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces refers to the widespread hazing and bullying carried out among military personnel, often to conscripts and junior members in South Korea. Hazing has been enforced and encouraged mainly under the pretext of establishing military discipline and hierarchy. Hazing has resulted in a large number of fragging, shooting spree and suicide cases, such cases of suicide are referred to as non-combat casualties by the military.

Layfield is currently a financial commentator featured regularly on Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. He is also employed by Northeast Securities as its Senior Vice President.

Matt's Law is a California law that allows for felony prosecutions when serious injuries or deaths result from hazing rites. The bill amended the California Education Code and California Penal Code to change charges for some hazing rituals from misdemeanors to felonies, and for the first time gave prosecutors the ability to seek hazing charges against nonstudents.

Montgomery High School, abbreviated as MHS or Mogo, a high school in unincorporated Montgomery County, Texas, west of the City of Montgomery. A part of the Montgomery Independent School District. The school's attendance zone includes the city of Montgomery and portions of unincorporated Montgomery County, including most of the west and south shores of Lake Conroe. For the 2018–2019 year, the school received an "A" rating from the Texas Education Agency.

"Piggate" refers to an uncorroborated anecdote that during his university years former British Prime Minister David Cameron inserted his penis and/or testicles into a dead pig's mouth as part of an initiation ceremony for the Piers Gaveston Society at Oxford University. The anecdote was reported by Michael Ashcroft and Isabel Oakeshott in their unauthorised biography of Cameron, Call Me Dave, attributing the story to an anonymous Member of Parliament who was a "distinguished Oxford contemporary" of Cameron's. Extracts from the book were published in the Daily Mail on 20 September 2015, prior to its publication.
