
Adult education, distinct from child education, is a practice in which adults engage in systematic and sustained self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values. It can mean any form of learning adults engage in beyond traditional schooling, encompassing basic literacy to personal fulfillment as a lifelong learner.

Adult Education Quarterly is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal covering the field of education. It was established in 1950 and is published by SAGE Publications on behalf of the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education. As of 2019, the editors-in-chief have been Ellen Boeren, Kevin M. Roessger, and Elizabeth A. Roumell.

Andragogy refers to methods and principles used in adult education. The word comes from the Greek ἀνδρ- (andr-), meaning "man", and ἀγωγός (agogos), meaning "leader of". Therefore, andragogy literally means "leading man", whereas "pedagogy" literally means "leading children".

The Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy is a peer-reviewed academic journal published six times per year by Wiley-Blackwell. The current editors are Kathleen A. Hinchman and Kelly Chandler-Olcott. The journal is one of three journals published on behalf of the International Literacy Association. The journal covers "practical, classroom-tested ideas grounded in research and theory." The Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy was first printed under the title Journal of Developmental Reading in 1957, but the name was changed to the Journal of Reading in 1964 starting with Volume 8. The name was changed again in 1995 to the current title.

The Joy of Science is a popular video and audio course series, consisting of 60 lectures, each 30 minutes long, presented by Robert Hazen of the George Mason University and the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The course, first introduced in 2001, is part of The Great Courses series, and is produced and distributed by The Teaching Company, located in Chantilly, Virginia, in the United States.

Monsignor Fraser College is a Roman Catholic specialized dual-track Alternative and Adult High School run by the Toronto Catholic District School Board in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with six campuses and various programs. The school was named in honour of John Andrew Mary Fraser, the founder of the Scarborough Foreign Mission Society and a missionary.

Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies (SCAS), formerly Tabor Park Vocational School is an alternative and adult high school serving Scarborough, a part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It operates under the Toronto District School Board and was previously part of the pre-amalgamated board, Scarborough Board of Education prior to merger. Originated at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute in 1977 as the re-entry program, the school opened in 1986 at the Tabor Park building and as of 2010, the school is located in the campus of the former Midland Avenue Collegiate Institute sharing with the fellow schools, South East Year Round Alternative Centre and Caring and Safe Schools Alternative Program Area C. SCAS is located on Midland Avenue south of Eglinton Avenue East.

The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), formerly UNESCO Institute for Education, is one of six educational institutes of UNESCO. It is a non-profit international research, training, information, documentation and publishing centre on literacy, non-formal education, adult and lifelong learning. It provides services to UNESCO's Member States, NGOs, and grassroots and community organizations, as well as to partners in civil society and the private sector.
