Shizuka Arakawa is a retired Japanese figure skater. She is the 2006 Olympic champion and the 2004 World champion. Arakawa is the first Japanese skater to win an Olympic gold medal in figure skating and the second Japanese skater to win any Olympic medal in figure skating, after Midori Ito, who won silver in 1992. She is also the second Japanese woman to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics, following skier Tae Satoya. She was the only Japanese medalist at the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Chisako Jumonji , better known by her ring name Dash Chisako , is a Japanese professional wrestler. She was trained by Meiko Satomura and has worked for her Sendai Girls' Pro Wrestling promotion since her debut in July 2006. For the first ten years of her career, Chisako was part of a tag team with her younger sister Sachiko, who worked under the ring name Sendai Sachiko, with the two winning the Sendai Girls World Tag Team Championship, Ice Ribbon's International Ribbon Tag Team Championship, JWP Joshi Puroresu's JWP and Daily Sports Women's Tag Team Championships and World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana's WWWD World Tag Team Championship as well as JWP's 2013 Tag League the Best tournament. Sachiko retired from professional wrestling in January 2016, forcing Chisako to start a singles career. In December 2017, Chisako won her first singles championship, the Pure-J Openweight Championship. Chisako has also wrestled in the United States for the Chikara promotion, where she won the 2016 King of Trios tournament as part of Team Sendai Girls.

Ai Fukuhara is a retired Japanese table tennis player and Olympic medalist, winning silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics and bronze at the 2016 Summer Olympics with the Japanese women's team. She is sponsored by All Nippon Airways.

Gojōrō Katsuhiro is a former sumo wrestler from Aoba-ku, Sendai, Japan. Making his professional debut in 1989, he spent a total of 53 tournaments as an elite sekitori ranked wrestler, reaching a highest rank of maegashira 3 in 1998. After a number of injury problems he retired in 2005 at the age of 32. He is now a sumo coach under the name Hamakaze-oyakata.

Rui Hachimura is a Japanese professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and is a member of the Japanese national team. Listed at 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) and 230 lbs (104 kg), he plays both the small forward and power forward positions. After being selected ninth overall by the Wizards in the 2019 NBA draft, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2020.

Yuzuru Hanyu is a Japanese figure skater. He is a two-time Olympic champion, a two-time World champion, a four-time Grand Prix Final champion (2013–2016), a Four Continents champion (2020), the 2010 World Junior champion, the 2009–10 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, and a six-time Japanese national champion. He has also medaled at five other World Championships, taking bronze in 2012 and 2021, and silver in 2015, 2016 and 2019 making him the only male single skater along with Jan Hoffmann to win seven world championship medals in the post-war era.

Tomokazu Harimoto is a Japanese table tennis player. In 2018, he won the 2018 World Junior Singles and Team Title at the ITTF 2018 World Junior Championship for Japan. The previous players to win the title were Kenta Matsudaira, Koki Niwa, and Jun Mizutani (Teams).

Rika Hongo is a Japanese retired competitive figure skater who is a two-time (2015–16) Four Continents bronze medalist, 2014 Rostelecom Cup champion, 2015 Finlandia Trophy champion and 2014–15 Japanese national silver medalist.

Misaki Ohata is a retired Japanese professional wrestler, best known for her work while signed to the Zabun production company and its two promotions; Pro Wrestling Wave and Osaka Joshi Pro Wrestling. She is a former one-time Wave Single Champion and a three-time Wave Tag Team Champion. She also works behind the scenes as Zabun's human resources director. She also made regular appearances for Michinoku Pro Wrestling, where she performed under a mask and the ring name Yapper Man #3 . In the past, she has also made appearances for American promotion Shimmer Women Athletes, where she is a former Shimmer Tag Team Champion.

Ai Ōtomo is a Japanese volleyball player. Her name before her divorce was Ai Yamamoto.

Sachiko Jumonji is a retired Japanese professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Sendai Sachiko . Her older sister Chisako is also a professional wrestler, working under the ring name Dash Chisako, and together the two have held the Sendai Girls World Tag Team Championship, Ice Ribbon's International Ribbon Tag Team Championship and JWP Joshi Puroresu's JWP and Daily Sports Women's Tag Team Championships and World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana's WWWD World Tag Team Championship, while also having won JWP's 2013 Tag League the Best tournament. Jumonji remained with Sendai Girls' Pro Wrestling her entire career, before retiring in January 2016.

Tanikaze Kajinosuke was a Japanese sumo wrestler from the Tokugawa era, who is officially recognized as the fourth yokozuna, and the first to be awarded the title of yokozuna within his own lifetime. He achieved great fame and though championships were not awarded in his era, he achieved the mathematical equivalent of 21 tournament championships. He was also the coach of Raiden Tameemon.
