
The elections of the Dutch Senate of 2003 were held on 26 May 2003, following the provincial elections on 11 March 2003. The 564 members of the twelve States-Provincial elected the 75 Senate members. The new Senate was installed on 10 June 2003. The term of office ended on 11 June 2007.

A dijkgraaf, sometimes called a watergraaf, is the chair of a Dutch water board. He is the equivalent of a mayor in local government and a King's Commissioner in provincial government, chairing both the legislative and executive council, while having both ceremonial and representational roles as well as his own portfolios. The term goes back to pre-medieval days.

A heemraad, or hoogheemraad is a local official of a Dutch water board. The term can be pluralized to (hoog)heemraden, but sometimes the word heemraad also means more than one man in the sense of a meeting of (hoog)heemraden, such as decisions made by the heemraad. In this sense, the college of heemraden met and acted as one body in the same way that the executive board meet at the city hall. A heemraad is the equivalent of an alderman (wethouder) in local government, being a member of both the local legislative council, while having representational roles for his own area. The term goes back to pre-medieval days.

The Farmer–Citizen Movement is an agrarian political party in the Netherlands. It is headquartered in Deventer, Overijssel. The current party leader is Caroline van der Plas, who founded it in 2019.

Kabouters were a Dutch anarchist group in the 1970s. It was founded by Roel van Duijn and one of its objectives was to set up an alternative society based on Van Duyn’s ideas as stated in his book, De boodschap van een wijze Kabouter. Van Duyn for some time worked at an organic farm and asked the farmer if they were going to get a harvester. “No,” the farmer responded “Noisy machines chase away the kabouters, and we need them to keep our plants healthy.” That is why Van Duyn used this image.

Yildirim was elected to the Senate after a voting mistake, but refused to give up his seat, after which the SP terminated his party membership. Yildirim kept his seat in the senate as an independent and founded Solidara.

The 2016 Speaker of the House of Representatives election was called to elect the new Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands after incumbent Anouchka van Miltenburg of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) had resigned on 12 December 2015. Van Miltenburg, who had been the Speaker since 25 September 2012, resigned after increasing criticism on her performance as Speaker. Khadija Arib of the Labour Party (PvdA), who had been a member of the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006 and again since 2007, beat Ton Elias of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), who had been a member of the House since 2008.

On 7 April 2021, the House of Representatives of the Netherlands voted to elect its Speaker for the 2021–2025 term. The election was held three weeks after the 2021 general election. Incumbent Speaker Khadija Arib of the Labour Party (PvdA) ran for re-election, but lost to Vera Bergkamp of Democrats 66 (D66) who won the election by a margin of 36 votes.

Splinter is a political party in the Netherlands. It was founded in December 2020 by Femke Merel van Kooten, who has led it since and served as its lijstrekker in the 2021 general election. It has a progressive, secular and social liberal ideology.
