Crimea in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest

The participation of Crimea in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest was originally planned to begin in Istanbul, Turkey, at the inaugural Bala Turkvision Song Contest in 2015. TRK Millet (TRKM) was responsible for the selection process of their participant, for their debut in 2015. Aliye Bekirova was selected as Crimea's first representative for the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015, with the song "Amanım yarım". However, they were forced to withdraw from the contest on 30 November 2015, due to the Russia–Turkey relations in the aftermath of the 2015 Russian Sukhoi Su-24 shootdown near the Syria–Turkey border on 24 November 2015. Crimea confirmed their participation for the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2016, and had selected Regina Vosika as their representative. However, this was subsequently cancelled alongside the Turkvision Song Contest 2016 due to the December 2016 Istanbul bombings.

KaZantip, also known simply as "Z", was an electronic dance music festival that took place every year from 1992 to 2013 on the Crimean Peninsula; from 2002 to 2013, it was held in the village of Mysovoye, near Shchelkino. The entrance ticket is called a "viZa". It takes place for 2–3 weeks in August, and about 100,000 "paradiZers" visit each year. There is a cult of orange-coloured fashion and yellow suitcases associated with the festival.

The church, which was built in 1917, was designed by Nick Ressler with elements of the Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival styles. The church has historically served a unique congregation of Czech immigrants from the Crimea and is considered to be the most significant representation of New Hradec's Czech heritage. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Crimea has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest twice since its debut in 2013. The Crimean broadcaster, Crimea Public Radio and Television (CPRT), has been the organiser for the Crimean entry since its debut in the contest. In 2013, Crimea's first entry at Turkvision, Elvira Sarihalil, failed to qualify for the grand final.
